Anytime I get the chance to work with a college senior, I grin. Anytime that work is with a fellow East Carolina University alumni, I grin a little bigger.
Set among a beautiful, mature campus of large trees and older exterior brick buildings, campus is the immediate choice for seniors images.
This senior, finishing her Masters none the less, was a teaching major, so we chose to use the front of the instructional building that she spent most of her time in.
The rain on the day of the shoot had tapered off to a light drizzle, so we choose to start here and then venture out to the open areas. Despite being in the shade of the building's overhang, the sun peaked out during this shot on the background, allowing me use natural light to create this gorgeous shot.
Exposing for her skin tones specifically, rather than the overall setting, I was able to draw in some rim light on the shoulders and hair from the sun, while making her dark gown standout against the much brighter full sunlight background.
College senior portraits are some of my enjoyable and relaxed work and I love using their campus to capture the memories of time spent learning and making this lifelong friends.1/125; f/2.8; ISO 400; 200.0 mm.
