Every bride and groom dream of beautiful weather on their wedding day, especially if the ceremony is outside. Sometimes you get it and sometimes you don't.
Old wise tales say rain on your wedding day is good luck, but, unfortunately, no one wants it to rain.
For this couple, their hot and humid wedding at the Sutherland was what they wanted.
As we began their night session, we noticed some small rumbles of thunder along with the occasional flicker of lightening. As we moved to the front of the estate to get a image of the couple in front of the house, the bottom fell out on us.
Rather than call it quits, I quickly moved to get them under the porch cover and then moved my flash behind them, roughly waist high on a nightstand and pointed directly at them.
By placing the bride and groom closely together, their bodies blocked any light coming through. The result was the light provided a gorgeous rim light to them and added gesture and depth to the image by lighting the falling rain drops. For the frontal exposure, the flash threw enough light forward that it reflected nicely of the white exterior of the house and gave them a beautiful glow.
